At the start of the month we were relishing the sunshine. Time to get the pool out! Dad worked hard to make sure the ground was level, while Isaac splashed in his little pool and smashed his bat into the water!
Look at these beautiful children!
The excitement over the imminent arrival of the Phillips' reached a fever pitch. So much so that Ana was making signs out of Chinese noodles (random!)
Ana and I played some game where we had to search for the ten elements of harmony. There were mystery items that we raced about looking for. Have you ever seen a more hodge podge collection in your life? The best thing about this though was just taking the time to fully involve myself in her crackpot game. She's growing up fast so I try to savor days like these were we can just play together. I love it. It's never enough for Ana though. She could play allllll day long.
Speaking of growing up. June was also Ana's last month of school. Goodbye first grade.... Hello second grade.
Ana had a very successful first grade, her reading came on amazingly. She is far above the typical first grade books. She was bored so we got her some much harder chapter books and they seemed to interest her. She is very good at maths too, she flies through her maths homework in about 20 seconds, and she aced all her spelling tests. Her handwriting needs some work, usually because she is rushing. Socially Ana is very popular and very outgoing. I am happy she has a nice little group of friends. Toward the end of the year the girls started falling apart a bit and getting catty. Sigh. It would break my heart to pick her up from school and hear about girls being mean to her. I wish I could shield her from that forever :( I'm sure I am biased but Ana has such a lovely sensitive nature I feel like she gets hurt easily. I need to try and toughen her up, but she is what she is, and she's so sweet, I just wish everyone else in the world was!!!
