Awwww

Yesterday I took Ana to the mall to run amuck in the air-conditioned play area. I spied some cute clothes through the window of Ann Taylor Loft that I just *had* to try on. I strapped Ana down into her stroller. Why you ask? Well because when we go clothes shopping together she waits until I am undressed then wriggles under the dressing room door and makes a run for it. I'm not even kidding. She crawled into some other lady's dressing area once. I had to knock on the door (in my underwear) and ask for my child back. Anyhoo, I am trying clothes on as fast as I can while singing Incy Wincy Spider to keep Ana distracted and she looks up at me in my new clothes and said "Mummy pretty". Awwwwww! Then this morning James took her to the park, and when she got back home she ran over to give me a hug and said "I missed you". Awwwww x 2! She's never said that before!

Dear Ana

Photobucket

Dear Ana,

Please stay nearly 2 forever!

Thanks,
Mummy xx

When did this happen?

Ana's talking amazed me today. i suddenly realised she is putting together long sentences. Like 7 word sentences! When did that happen?

Today in the car she said "I took it out of my hair" (referring to her bobble), then in the playground she said "I banged my head on Daddy's leg". Wow!!

Such a girly girl!

This week every shape is a diamond and every colour is pink!

No matter what shape you draw for Ana when you ask her what it is she will yell "DIAMOND" and no matter what colour you show her she will yell "PINK"

Random June pictures

Helping Daddy in the gardenThese are Ana's favourite boots. She just got them last week and she has worn them everyday since! Rain or shine!
(that chalk in the background is our latest game...street art)

Even though she has a 50-50 chance of success she always seems to put them on the wrong feet. It really doesn't get much cuter than this huh?!

Newsflash: Chalk doesn't taste so good!

This swing is SO last year. Ana only rolls with the big kid swings now! Crazy kid!

This is Ana's "stuff". Before we can go anywhere she needs to make sure she has blankie, Nuk, Nemo and rabbit!

Smiling on demand! This is the cutest thing ever!! When you ask Ana to smile this is the face you will get! Needless to say, I ask her a lot :)

At the aquarium for father's day

Ana was far more interested in the moving walkway than the tunnel of fish! Go figure!

Afterwards we went to Centennial Olympic park and Ana played it up a storm.

This slide was nuts. I flew right off the end and landed on my ass.

Do you think someone was a little worn out by the end of the day?

Yes, she is actually napping at the park

How Do I Love You?

I know I'm not alone in this, because most of you who read this blog have children, but I really struggle to express just how wonderful and amazing Ana is. I can't imagine that anyone has ever loved anyone more.

So what to say? I could say that she is our everything, but she is even more than that. I could say that often when I look at her I can’t catch my breath… but that sounds cliché. I could say that I want to hold her so close that I wish I could open up my chest and shove her in… but that sounds weird. I could say that if anything were to happen to her my heart would simply stop beating… but that is a little morbid. So I’ll just say this: Almost 2 years ago a little bundle of joy came into our lives and threw us into a tail spin. She consumes all our time, and money, and sometimes sanity. She is tiring. She is demanding. She is the best thing that ever happened to us.

How Do I Love You?

How do I love you?
Let me count the ways;
I love you on your very best
And very worst of days.

I love to see you laughing
And dancing in the rain,
And even if you make a mess
I love you just the same.

I love to hear you sing,
I love to see you smile,
I love the way you take each day
In your own unhurried style.

Photobucket

I'm happy when you're happy
I'm sorry when you're sad
And even though it may not show
I love you when you're bad.

I love to watch you sleeping
Tucked away in dreams
I love to hear you whisper
All your future hopes and dreams.

I love to watch you play
And all your silly ways
I'm sure you'll never know
How much I love you more each day.

Photobucket

How do I love you?
It's impossible to say;
For if I had a million days
And time enough for all the praise
I couldn't tell you all the ways

I love you

Mummy xx

Apparently I don't get it

We are at the park, on a bridge overlooking a river...

Ana: Where'd horsie go?
Mummy: Erm...I don't know

Ana: Where'd horsie go?
Mummy: What horsie?

Ana: Where'd horsie go?
Mummy: Are you sure you saw a horsie, honey?

Ana: (storms off yelling) For goodness sake mummy!

10 minutes later

Ana: Where'd sheep go?
Mummy (excited) Ohh, I don't know, let's look for sheep
Ana (deadpan): No mummy

Project haircut

It was high time for Ana to get a haircut

She has the most gorgeous, amazingly thick and shiny hair. Just the right amount of curl and perfect highlights! You can see why I have been hesitant to cut it.

But since she was struggling to actually see, and the hair gets really hot on her face in the heat, we took the plunge and headed to the kids hairdresser.

Ana looking apprehensive

The finished product! She was such a good girl she got treated to ice cream after her haircut!

"Uh oh, I put too much ice cream in my mouth!"

Paddling Pool

Ana got a paddling pool this week and she LOVES it! She gets in it every day, in fact several times a day. First thing in the morning to last thing at night she is asking "Swim?"

Too bad the thing is a piece of crap from Walmart, and is already leaking! We'll have to get another one soon.

Help! I'm melting!

Do you want to know how hot it is here?

Really?

Do you??

Try hot enough to MELT a damn crayon on my deck!!

A quick Google search led me to discover that crayons melt at 105 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees C). This deck is in the shade for most of the day. Thus, I can conclude that it is 105 degrees IN THE SHADE!!

Tell me, how am I supposed to entertain a nearly 2 year old child in that kind of heat?

And it's only June :(

POOH BEAR

Ana picked up her Pooh Bear toy this morning and said "Bear".

I replied "Yes, Pooh Bear"

She turned him over and looked at his bum, then thoughtfully said "Poo Bear" and took him over to her changing table and tried to clean his bum with baby wipes!

Ha ha!

My child, the genius

Trip to Miami

I went to Miami for work last weekend and I missed Ana soooo much. She and James had a fun daddy-daughter weekend though. They went to the park and to the Aquarium. Apparently Ana really loved the Aquarium so we'll be going back soon. James said he got all teary eyed in there because she was so excited! Just in the 4 days I was gone she seems to have grown up so much and is talkeing even more (I didn't think that was possible).

I got to catch up with Shelley and Jen while I was down in Miami. We had a great time! I miss them so much! Shelley has pictures on her blog

Here are Ana and I getting reacquainted at the airport!
