Ana plays footy!

Ana started soccer this week. So far so good. I'm not sure she loves it (like she does swimming), but she is happy because her friends are on the team, so she gets to socialize if nothing else!!

Practice
Ana is so popular! Every kid there wanted to hang with her!

 First Game

That is some rock solid defence right there!!

Ana and Cami flying along!

Cheering on the bench (her favourite part I think!)

Moooom, can I go in?

Hey ladies!

Ana Quotes

She's been on a roll this week!

Ana: "Mom, do you know that the sun follows me everywhere I go?"
Me: "Yes it does"
Ana: "Do you want to know why"
Me: "Sure"
Ana: "It is because the sun thinks I am so beautiful and it likes my style"

The next day we are rushing to get Isaac to the GI specialist and she is whining and sulking in the back of the car.
Me: "What is wrong with you?"
Ana: "I am mad because I don't want to wear these shoes you gave me, they are not fashionable. And your shirt doesn't even match your shorts, you look ridiculous"
Me: "Well today is not about fashion, Ana, it's about getting Isaac to the Dr"
Ana: Um, Mom. EVERY DAY is about fashion"

Birthday Boy

If there is one thing this kid loves, it is chocolate!!  Mmmmm.

Poor neglected second born child... doesn't even get his full name on a cake!

Ana and I had just returned from a trip to the UK on Isaac's birthday, so it was a little rushed, but he was showered with love and kisses! I think getting his Mummy and Sister back home was about the best birthday present he could have asked for. Except for a ball.

One

Little, little, little man. You were wished for, longed for, dreamed of, well before you were born. You are my miracle child. You complete our family in a way I never could have imagined. I remember the day I learned you were a boy I beamed from ear to ear the whole day long. I’m still beaming! And what a boy you are. You are sheer force and perseverance. You go after the things you want with dogged intensity. You ram your way through any obstacle. You take dirt and throw it in the air and let it rain down on your bald little head. Of course, you have a soft side too. I love to see you belly laughing with your sister, climbing all over your Daddy delivering sloppy kisses, or pestering cuddling the dog.

When I catch a glimpse of you walking by with a remote control in your hand, other hand on your hip and your belly sticking out, it is hard to believe we didn’t always have you. The day you were born was the most amazing day. The moment you arrived I felt like I had known you my whole life. When your sister came into this world I was exhausted, scared, and unprepared. I fell in love with her gradually. With you, I just knew. I knew you were my boy and I knew the feeling of your head on my chest before your head was ever there. The peaceful rhythm of our breathing as we slept together those initial weeks was as familiar and as sweet as anything I’d ever known.

Since that time you have slowly crept out into the world, poking your toe into the water bit by bit. At first you would crawl a couple of feet and then come scurrying back, then a few more feet, then a few more. Then you took your first steps away from me, fell on your bum and rushed back into my arms. You have an overwhelming desire to push your limits, to explore new things, feel them, taste them, bash them with your head, but simultaneously a need to feel close and feel safe. I don’t expect that will change much as you grow up, just that your boundaries will grow further and further away and you will look back over your shoulder less and less. But it’s ok. When you look back I’ll always be there. I love you more than you could possibly know. I can’t wait to see you grow and take on your next challenges. Just try to grow a little slower, ok?

Love
Mama xx
