Isaac's Words

Ball (all the time)
Go-Go-Go
Bye
Mama (usually when wailing)

He will sort of say his name but he says it over and over in a row "IsaacIsaacIsaac"

That's about all he says, but he understands other words. If we say "where is Ana?" he will look at her and point. I seem to think Ana had more to say at this age, but I'm not sure. I do remember she suddenly took off with about 50 words overnight, so I am sure it won't be long.

Updates

Ana

Ana is almost finished with her first year of school. She'll be a first grader in September!! Woah!  She has grown up so much it is amazing. Her legs are a million miles long and she is getting freckles on her face. That sweet flawless baby skin is getting freckles! And she now takes SHOWERS! By herself. Lordy!  She is smart and funny and really sweet. She is so incredibly kind to her brother, I love watching them together. Their latest thing is to wrestle on the couch or to tear around the kitchen center island chasing each other and just cracking up.  Her favourite TV show right now is My Little Pony. She knows every pony (there are a lot) and plays imaginary games involving them all day. She is playing soccer and taking swimming lessons this month. The swimming is going much better than the soccer. She is a fish and could be in the pool all day long. Soccer she seems to be playing mostly because Cami is playing. She does ok but she is not crazy about it.  She has been asking for a while for karate lessons, so we might give that a try next year instead of soccer. She's still into dance. This year she did Irish Dance, mostly because it was cheap and laid back for us! She loved it but I am not sure I can sit through any more Irish dance recitals! Ha! We might look into hip-hop or tap next year.  Most nights Ana comes to bed with me and we sit and play educational games on the iPad. She is a maths wizz.  I love that time with her. Isaac is asleep and Ana is winding down and we sit and play or read and talk. It is great. Hanging out with Ana is a real joy these days. She is not needy at all. It's like having a little friend. We are planning lots of Mummy-Ana days out for this summer. Can't wait!!

Isaac

Isaac is about to be 15 months old. He just transitioned to a new room at his daycare and has adapted amazingly well. He is in with older kids (up to 2 and a half), so he takes scheduled naps and eats school lunches at a table. No more bottles!  In the past couple of months his confidence has taken off. He's not so clingy and shy any more. He marches right up to other kids looking to make friends. He is pretty easy to peg. He loves just a couple of things - and by loves I mean is obsessed with! Books and balls!!  Ball was his first word and still is pretty much his only consistent word. If he sees anything remotely round in shape he will scream BALL and make a dash for it. He has a great arm, he can throw a ball remarkably well. James is demanding a paternity test!  Books are his other love. He pulls them off the shelf and walks over to us, offers the book then climbs on our knee to listen. Considering he hardly ever sits still, he has a remarkable ability to sit for books. Like Ana, he is very musical. His teachers are always commenting on how much he loves songs and dancing. He will find any rhythm and bounce to it. The other day James was building a shelf and Isaac was rocking to the rhythm of the hammer! On the down side he is into EVERYTHING! He plows through the house like a tornado. He pulls beer cans out of the recycling and drinks the dregs, he pulls pots and pans out of the cupboard, he pulls clothes out of the laundry or drawers, he puts things down the toilet, he sticks his hands in the dog bowl and scatters the food all over the floor, he reaches up onto the counter for pretty much anything he can get his hands on, the more forbidden the better. This is all in the space of about 30 seconds. In spite of this, I am very much going to miss the little boy he is right now when he grows up.  I love his big cheeky grin (he has 10 teeth, when did that happen??) and his belly laugh. His way of walking is hilarious! He walks with his head forward to the point he is almost toppling over, or other times he will walk with his belly thrust out. He is also just the most loving little boy you could imagine. He definitely takes after Ana with his sweet nature. He is a total cuddle bug and wants to hug all the time. He hugs James and I, Ana, Briscoe, and his daycare friends and teachers. He even hugs dolls and toys and random kids at the park. Just writing about him right now I want to go and scoop him up and give him a big squeeze!!!

I have THE sweetest children in the whole world!!

My kids might drive me crazy some (most) of the time but they are just the most loving children you could ever hope for. All week Ana has been DYING for it to be mothers day. I'm not sure what is in store for me but it is the first thing out of her mouth when she wakes up "Is it mother's day today?"  She wants to sit next to me, play with me, talk to me, sleep with me ALL. THE. TIME.  She is such wonderful company at the moment I don't mind at all. She is old enough to be pretty self-sufficient and we can have a good natter and a laugh together. I just adore her!

Isaac is in a challenging phase in that he is constantly on the look out for trouble. Yesterday in the space of 60 seconds that I was talking to Mel he pulled a beer can out of the recycling and drank the dregs, stood in the dog food bowl with both feet, and stuck his hand down the toilet. I took him upstairs while I attempted to get dressed. In the time it took me to brush my teeth he pulled all my clothes out, headbutted the mirror repeatedly, knocked over a bin and then pulled a razor out of a drawer and tried to shave his head! I kid you not. He's NUTS.  However, when I walk in a room he lights up and yells "HI" and waves. He loves to cuddle and snuggle, and if I laugh (doesn't matter at what) he belly laughs right along with me. He is just so much fun to be around.

Isaac and his ball

A whole room full of toys and all this kid is interested in is his ball. He is ball crazy!  Grandad should be impressed that he is already working on his throw in technique...

Haircut

Ana has the most beautiful hair, but it is quite a hassle to deal with and she is not a fan of getting it washed, brushed, or styled in any way, so when she asked to cut it off she met little resistance from her parents! So Mum and Ana went off for a little salon pampering!
