A sad decline

My performance for this years world cup has been almost as poor as England's. It's truly a sorry state of affairs.....

In 2002 I went back to England and watched all the games down the pub with Mel and Gaz


In 2006 I've been watching in bed :( .....occasionally getting wild and watching in the living room with a cup of tea! WOO HOO

Hopefully I'll bounce back in 2010!!

33 weeks...and counting

HOT

I just wanted to document that is has been 99 degrees here every day this week. Yuck! I can't take that kind of heat even when I'm not pregnant! Even James is wilting and he could live in a greenhouse! I would copy the cats and lie stretched out on the (relatively) cool kitchen floor....except I wouldn't be able to get back up!! Sigh.

Childbirth classes

James and I have been attending childbirth classes this week. The lady who runs the class is funny and the other couples are all nice. The first night we practiced relaxation techniques and James and I got a massive fit of the giggles...it was soooo funny. Luckily some of the other couples had giggles too so we didn't get kicked out for being disruptive! The second night we learned some breathing techniques - I don't quite have the hang of the rapid breathing yet, it makes me lightheaded so I'll need to practice! We also got info on pain relief options (pretty much the epidural is it), the different stages of labor, what happens at the hospital, etc. On the last night we learned how to push, and we watched a video of some hippie types giving birth - yuck.

Dr Appointment

We had an ultrasound yesterday to check Ana's growth since I am measuring large. The good news is that she is perfect with no problems, but she is big! The Dr estimates she is currently almost 5lb, meaning she will potentially be around 9lbs at birth - eeek! The ultrasound was really cool, we could see quite a lot of her features. She has a round face with very chubby cheeks and lots of hair (we could actually see curls at the nape of her neck) and James thinks she has my nose! She is head down in the blast off position, with her feet up at the top - which is why I keep getting jabbed in the ribs I suppose! She also stuck her tongue out at us during the scan - cheeky!

The tech said the Dr may order one more scan if I continue to measure large - I hope so because I really like seeing her in there. It reminds me she is a beautiful little baby - not just a body invader on a mission to make me as miserable as possible!

I only gained 1lb since my last appointment, so perhaps she is slowing down a bit. More likely it is just me slowing down. My stomach is now so crushed I can hardly eat anything. We went to Fuddruckers diner after the appointment, and I ordered just a side salad and I couldn't even finish it - how embarassing. James compensated by eating a 3/4lb burger with chilli cheese fries and an enormous chocolate milkshake! I even caught him eyeing my left over salad too :)

World Cup fever

The American coverage is shocking - no pre match build-up, and they didn't show the national anthems. The commentators just referred to Becks as Michael Beckham, and spent 15 minutes discussing why England should aim their high balls at Crouch, not Owen. They are clueless and irritating and I can't even have a beer!!

I had to laugh though when James said "that guy just headbutted it into his own end zone". Oh Slim!

30 weeks

Woo hoo - 10 weeks to go. I am three quarters of the way cooked...like a medium rare steak.

United Airlines did a fantastic job of accomodating me on the flight to Denver. I called to tell them I was pregnant to see if I needed a Dr's note to be able to fly (I didn't) and they upgraded me to a bulkhead seat in Ecomony Plus. Yay!! I had so much room. The kind people of Denver were also falling over themselves to offer me a seat on the terminal train and to admire my bump. The lesson to be learned here is to stuff a pillow up your shirt next time you travel....unless of course you are a guy then everyone will just think you are a fat bastard!

Sibling bonding

Brisco took some time out of his busy sleeping schedule to bond with Ana. He even flapped his ear up on my belly - maybe he was trying to hear her heartbeat!
