6 months old - Isaac's first post

Hey, what's happening. Isaac here, or Z as my crew here call me (that's pronounced Zee by the way, Nana and Grandad, tee hee). So anyhoo, I'm 6 months old now. Didn't that go fast? Well, so Mum says, I have no point of reference!

So here's what I did on my half-birthday.

Started off with some carrots for breakfast. Really, who eats carrots for breakfast, Mum? But I was not fazed. I love carrots

Yes, I love carrots! What is your point?
Then Mum took Ana to her dance class so I spend some good ole MAN time in the garage with Dad.  Working on his super-masculine bright yellow bug!

Then Annie's friend Cami came over. Those girls. I thought my sister on her own was loud, but get those two together and it's deafening. Still, they sure seem to really like each other. They played outside in the sprinkler and on the bouncy house while I took a nap.

After my nap I was looking bored, so we played Tummy Time. I'm really good at this game, even though I have a big head to lift. Look how far I can push myself up! I really, really dig this game. I laugh, squeel, and kick my legs like crazy. I try really hard to move but I don't seem to be getting anywhere! Sometimes I can spin around in a circle but that's about it.

Bored!

Mum gave me a toy so I bit it. I'm teething Mum, what did you expect me to do? I bite EVERYTHING and cover it in drool.
LOOK how much I can drool!

Next I tried sitting up. I can do this for about a second then I tip to the side and fall over.  I'm telling you, it's my big head! It's hard to balance. Although it is soft and rubbable, so I like it.

About this time thing took a turn for the worse with my crazy sister. Ana and Cami had a big fight because Cami was wearing a Belle dress but was calling herself Princess Toadstool. Ana was NOT having that. She was insisting this was a Belle dress and if Cami wanted to wear it she had to be Belle. Cami is as stubborn as Ana and would not back down. I thought they might come to blows.

Fight, fight, fight!

Dad took the girls for a bike/scooter ride to diffuse the situation, but Cami went faster than Ana (which really ticked Ana off) and then Ana fell off her scooter and pretty much all hell broke loose.  So due to all this commotion I didn't even get my birthday cake! It's ok though. I'm a pretty chilled out little dude so I was still just smiling away while Ana was engaging in the mother of all meltdowns.

The next day Ana was much happier so she and dad baked me some brownies. Yum!  I'll be back later with pics of those!!

Peace out for now,
Z

Edited by Mum to add that I knew his outfit was familiar!!  He is officially much bigger since Ana was 8 months old here.

6 month stats

Izee overtakes Ana!

6 months old:  18lb 8oz and 28.25" long
(for comparison Ana was 18lb 5oz and 27 inches)

Personality wise, they are dead similar. The ladies at daycare tell me Isaac is happy, smiley, sociable, loud, and not interested in sleeping. Sound familiar?

First Day of School

Ana started kindergarten this week (try saying kindergarten without an American accent, it's impossible).  I have heard about parents crying and getting anxious about the first day of school. I thought there was no way it would affect me, since Ana has been in "school" since she was 8 weeks old, but this felt so different. It is BIG school, which means she is a BIG girl! Which means (a) I'm getting old, and (b) my baby is no longer a baby. She needs me less and less already. I'm so not ready for this. Wahhh!

On Tuesday she had an open house, where she got to see her classroom and meet her teacher. I think this really helped alleviate any anxiety. Isaac was in daycare so James and I took her. She hesitated a bit when she saw the bigger kids on the playground. She's never been in a setting around many older kids. She was a little shy meeting the teacher but once she started looking around the room she settled right in.  James and I took her out for lunch after the visit. We both said it felt like the end of her childhood! At least her little-kid childhood and all the innocence that goes with having never been to school (and been around much older kids!).
At the open house

The night before I packed all her stuff up and set it out ready to go. Sniff! At night I laid in bed with Ana and started to tell her a story about a little girl who grew in her Mummy's tummy and grew into a big girl who went to school and made lots of friends. Half way through she totally cut me off and said "Ughh, can I just watch TV?"  Ouch!!

A note for her lunch box

So the morning rolled around. Isaac was most co-operative and slept in late so we could get Ana all ready to go. We ate breakfast together, then she got dressed in record time.... She was so excited to get on the bus with her friend Cami.

Putting her shoes on
Ready!

Sob!

Walking to the bus :)
Excited!!

Here comes the bus!!!
All aboard

Bye Bye Big Girl

Later that afternoon I was back to meet Ana off the bus. The bus pulled up and Ana and Cami were sat on the front seat. On my cuteness!  I thought Ana would have been bursting to tell me about her day (she normally never shuts up), but she wasn't. In fact she wouldn't tell me anything :(  She was clearly exhausted when she got back. I had to scrape her off the couch to go and pick Izee up. I've still not got much info out of her, other than she sat with Cami at lunch.

The following day she had PE, which is a different uniform. She seems even more grown up to me in this one!

So far she seems to have had a great week. Other than being worn out at the end of the day she has made a really smooth transition and is taking elementary school totally in stride.  And we've not missed the bus yet! LOL! Which is a major achievement for her parents :)

**Amendment**
Apparently the best way to get Ana to talk to me is to try and write my blog. If I'm on the computer ignoring her she's all over me!!

What do you like about St Michael's?
I like it because Cami and Audrey and Colleen and Sebastian are all there. I like riding the school bus. I love Sebastian because he is my boyfriend, I am also making new friends. I like to play outside. I jog and do hopscotch and run around the running track. And I like to eat lunch at the lunch table. I like the walls and I like the fan and I like our colouring place. We also play tag, and duck-duck-goose, and lanterns and pretty princesses. I also like it because I have a pretty lunchbox. I love you and Isaac and Dad (typed verbatim, in case you couldn't tell).

What lessons do you have?
I love my lessons. Well, I don't have lessons yet but I will I think love them.
Oh, I did Spanish and we do music class. And we go to gym with Mr Bashan. Or maybe it is Mr Cashan? I think it is Mr Bashan. I love Mr Bashan. He is a good teacher and he lets us do fun stuff in gym.

Bath-time Beauties

These kids love each other. Absolutely love each other. It is the sweetest thing!  Here they are in the bath :)

Rocking the Mohawk!

The famous hair pull!

Ana's hair all smoothed out (I never should have introduced her to this. I may never get out of the house on time again!!)

**I can't get these pics to rotate in the new Blogger. Grrrrr**
