Date Weekend

This weekend we traded off babysitting with our friends Monica and Erik, so each of us could have a date night. This meant Ana and Lucas got not one, but two dates! They are so cute together. Here they are at our place.

Make that twenty-one!

Make that 21 pairs of shoes that Ana has....and 3 pairs waiting for Mia.

I think I have a problem.

No, we didn't let Ana have a go. Maybe next year ...

Geek #1

Geek #2 (Ana wonders what the hell Daddy is doing)

Yikes!

Bossy Boots!!

Ana put Chelsea in time out yesterday! Ha ha! I went to collect her from daycare and her friend Chelsea was having a toddler meltdown. Ana walked over, stood over her with her hands on her hips, and barked: "Chelsea, go the the red (wed) chair!"

Her teacher, Ms Queenie, told me Ana is like the second teacher in that room. She keeps all the other kids in line. She orders them to pick up their toys and to stop crying and go to sleep.

At least I know it is not just me she bosses around!

This morning was just one example of many...she likes me to lie down and pretend to go to sleep so she can tuck me in with a blanket and pat my back. It goes a little something like this:

Ana: Mummy, go sleep
Me: I'm getting ready for work
Ana: Go sleep, Mummy
Me: Not right now sweetie
Ana: GO SLEEP (pointing at the floor)
Me: Um...no
Ana: Go SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP (wailing)
Me: (folding pathetically): Ok, I'll go to sleep

I lie on the floor and Ana straightens out the blanket over and over until it is perfectly straight then lays it across me. If I dare open my eyes while she is doing this she yells "GO SLEEP!!!!".

I finally get covered up. She rubs my back a couple of times and pats me until I'm all relaxed and actually almost sleeping and then she yells "WAKE UP MUMMY"

Boo!

I took this picture by accident. I had the camera in my hand and I picked Ana up with the other hand and the camera went off. I love it though!

It is seriously hard to take a bad picture of this kid :-)

Um...I think I received the wrong kid!

I think the stork got lost and I got Mel's kid by mistake.

Ana has eighteen pairs of shoes! Eighteen! That is 9 per year of her life. This only includes the shoes that currently fit her, there are many more that she has outgrown. Her favourite pairs are the high heels and the pink sparkle shoes!

She loves these hair bows!!

Dresses! Ana loves dresses. The more girly the better. She has this little walk that she does when she is in a dress. The ladies at her daycare crack up at her. She sways her hips and flounces along like "Look at me....I've got it going ON"

Pink!! We were in the car the other day and Ana announced "I like pink". As if we didn't already know that.

Poor Ana has to be so disappointed when she digs through my shoes and finds only trainers and flip flops. I think over Xmas I'm going to have to let her explore Mel's wardrobe!!

Deny, deny, deny

I'm not sure why, but Ana will always deny having pooped when she blatantly has. I have found out from talking with my mummy friends this is not uncommon though!

If I had been quicker on the draw with the camera this would be funnier, because she was straining and going red in the face right before I started the video.

You also get to see her posed smile which is about the cutest thing I've ever seen!

p.s. Add this video to the list of things Ana will probably hate me for posting when she is 15

Cats and Dogs

Another chalk victim (I think Daddy had a hand in this one too)

Nail polish!

Girls are so much fun!!

Goodbye old friends

I finally treated myself to some new running shoes but I'm kind of sad to get rid of the old ones. These were a gift from James when Ana was only 4 months old. Along with my Nike+ iPod they got me hooked on running. Together we have covered well over 500k and lost 32lb!

Thanks shoes!

p.s. My new shoes are PIMPING....just don't tell the old shoes that!

Things you don't need to know

Ana and I were in the bath together last night when she looked at me and said "I peed"

I swear I saw a wicked little glint in her eye!

Trip to Chattanooga

We had a really great 4th July weekend. On the 4th we went to watch the local Redneck parade, then spent the afternoon playing. I also made a fabulous meal (I'm really into cooking these days...which is amazing given my history of burning things). On Sat we got up and lounged about watching the Wimbledon women's final then headed up to Ringgold for Baby Dean's first birthday party. It was great to see Adam and Jen and Dean is so happy and cute. Ana played it up a storm with Dean's cousin Cassie. They were best friends right off the bat. They disappeared for ages in the playroom so I stuck my head in and they were deep in conversation playing with a Millennium Falcon. I have no idea what they were saying but they seemed to understand each other. I left my camera in the car so I don't have any pics, but I'll try to steal some off Jen's blog. In the meantime here's Ana and I getting ready to go

We left Ringgold that night and headed to Chattanooga (about 15 min away). In the morning we went down to the riverfront, but it was too hot to stay out for long. Ana seemed to enjoy watching the fountains though!

Apparently Chattanooga isn't big on disabled or pushchair access, there were steps everywhere and not a slope to be seen...so James got his morning workout in.

We spent the rest of the day at the Creative Discovery Children's Museum which was AMAZING!! We all absolutely loved it. Here's a picture overload of Ana's day there....

Crazy kid

Ana slaps me in the face when she gets excited, or when she wants my attention, or just randomly. Obviously we are trying to correct this!!! She thinks it is funny, even when she gets told off or put in time out.

Anyway, last night she went to hit me with her right hand so I grabbed her arm, so then she took a swing with her left arm and I grabbed that too....so she head butted me! I'm not even joking! I was holding on to both of her arms and she pulled her neck back and butted me in the face.

James said "Hmm, I wonder who she gets that from?"

Anaism of the week

Ana walks into the room..

Ana: Hi Mummy, how are you?
Me: I'm great, how are you?
Ana: Bang on!

Bang on?? Where did she get that from? Clearly I'm not hip with toddler lingo!

Ana singing!!

So Ana has been singing this Bumble Bee song for a few days. I didn't really know the words so I had to look it up on Youtube! She must have learned it at daycare. She loves it!!
