Meet Elfred

A special little elf came from the North Pole to join us for the run up to Christmas. He keeps his eye on the kids and every night he flies back to tell Santa all of the good things Ana has been doing. In the morning he is back home but perched in a new spot.

Elfred get's a girlfriend!
And if you want to know how it REALLY goes having an Elf on the Shelf, you need to read this! This chick nailed it!!  http://peopleiwanttopunchinthethroat.blogspot.com/2011/12/over-achieving-elf-on-shelf-mommies.html

November

Watching something fascinating on TV!
Twinnies in their baseball caps
Other than a snowy first week, the weather turned very nice and we had a few warm days where we got to spend time outdoors. We also managed to find the time to make some improvements to the kids' playroom:

New Shelves!

New Floor Mat for Izee
Things went downhill for us when we all got ill. Ana was the worst by far, and after a couple of trips to the Dr I knew something bigger was going on so I took her to the ER (always a pleasant experience) where they did a lung x-ray and found out she had pneumonia. She was very brave!

Ana was enjoying being wheeled about a little too much!

Staying home from school and going to work with Mum is not as much fun as I hoped!

By the time Thanksgiving rolled around we were feeling wiped out and just wanted to spend some time as the 4 of us. We had a wonderful weekend just relaxing.

Thanksgiving day: Watching football with the kids

Homemade Pumpkin Pie (this was delicious!!)

I should not be allowed in the kitchen!

Some crafty handprint things we did on Thanksgiving Day :)

The day after Thanksgiving James unfortunately has to work, but there was a parade of big balloons in Springfield center, so we got to go down and meet him for a long lunch :)

Our City mayor is straight up mob!

One of the very big balloons
After the parade I took the kids to the Science Museum.  Mr Potato Head and Barbie were there. Ana was UTTERLY starstruck to meet barbie. She followed her everywhere, got at least 3 hugs, and broke down crying when we finally had to leave.

Also over Thanksgiving weekend I ran in my first post-baby 10k on a nice sunny day (unseasonably hot) at a reservoir with gorgeous views. I was thrilled to make my goal time of 55 min :)

Look - One hand!

Carl J. Hoover-Walker

Back in October I ran in a 5k at Forest Park in honour of Carl J. Hoover-Walker. It was an incredibly moving event, and I plan to take part in the race every year. Carl Walker was only 11 years old when he took his life after being bullied at school. His mother has since become an anti-bullying advocate, who has changed laws in Mass, and even gone the the Whitehouse to meet President Obama.  The TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition came to town and built the Walkers a new house. It was a big community effort, and a few of my students were involved in building the house.  The presenters of the show ran the 5k race, and they were really nice. They made time to chat to a lot of people and take photos, etc. The show aired last night, so if you have time you should watch it!

Oh, and I was # 9313 to take a stand against bullying :)

October

Before the October Snowmageddon the weather here was actually nice. Beautiful New England fall. Here are Ana and I at a pumpkin patch and corn maze.

We also had a fun day out at a local zoo, where Ana got to pet a giraffe!

Twins!!

Sink bath = Baby rite of passage!

Is there ever a better toy than a cardboard box??

Lastly there is the Halloween that never was! Ana was a Power Ranger, which she LOVED! I lucked out with this outfit. Power Ranger costumes are ridiculously expensive, but I found a yellow one on sale, and it just so happened Yellow was the colour Ana wanted to be! Yesss!  We were snowed in on Oct 31st, but Ana got to attend a few early events at school and the mall, so all was not lost. She also wore the outfit around the house for pretty much the whole month of October.  Isaac was a cute chicken for his belated Halloween at daycare in November!
