We don't like Peaches!

Ana is not a fan of fruit - she won't eat applesauce, or pears, or peaches! I think she finds them too tart or something. She does love sweet potato though. So until we find anything else she likes she is living off sweet potato and cereal. Here's a video of our attempt to feed peaches. She makes a similar face to Lily! Funny how babies are so similar at this age.

Ponytail

I finally took Judgey's advice and gave Ana a candlewick ponytail. My cheeks are so puffy from the surgery that I challenged Ana to a chubby cheek/candlewick contest. I think she beat me!

Sleeping like a cat

Yesterday I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. Ouch. Since then I have slept almost straight through for 30 hours!!! Can you believe that? I want to say I slept like a baby, but now I have a baby I'm wondering who on earth coined that phrase?! Our fat cat Smudge slept next to me almost the entire time, so I will say that I slept like a cat! Thanks to James for taking these oh so flattering photos.

Grabby

Ana is grabbing anything and everything these days. I went to a consignment sale yesterday with her in the front rider and she kept leaning into boxes and grabbing things while I was browsing. It was funny! We got to the checkout and she was holding onto something I had no intention of buying. Also, I put her in her walker in the kitchen this afternoon and my handbag was hanging on the back of a chair and she managed to push herself over to the bag (not sure if this was actually intentional - probably not) and wormed her little hand into the bag and started rummaging around. I see I already need eyes in the back of my head, and she's not even crawling yet!!

New highchair

Ana contemplates her new highchair, then decides she is thoroughly unimpressed!

(Seriously, I was trying so hard to make her smile here ard she was just giving me this look. Poor thing was probably feeling nauseous!)

Poor Ana

Well, we thought Ana was doing better, then she puked all over me when I was holding her this morning, then she projectile vomited out of her mouth and nose when we sat down to dinner tonight (some landed on James' plate - ewww) and then she puked on me AGAIN a few minutes later. I've been through 2 changes of clothes today and she has been through 4! We have her on small amounts of pedialite so that seems to be helping. Poor Baby. James and I thought we were finished with cleaning up vomit on a Sat night when we left the bar business!! We are both running on empty right now, just trying to hold ourselves together day by day. This parenthood malarkey is hard work and it's relentless! I'm just praying that we can have one solid week without her getting ill. It is ridiculous, and so heartbreaking. When she's not actually puking Ana has been great. She's been giggling a lot and grabbing everything that comes within 2ft of her. She's almost mastered sitting up on her own too.

This opens up a whole new world for her of sitting and playing with toys which she seems to enjoy. She has one toy (actually a Leapfrog learning center) that we just brought down for her. She sits at it in her Bumbo seat and plays with all the gadgets. The thing says "hello" in various languages, among other things. It's pretty cool. James and I are learning something too!! Hola....Bonjour...and my personal favourite Konnichi wa!!

Sick AGAIN

So much for a happy valentines day.....Ana has viral gastroenteritis :( She woke up during the night vomiting and has VERY stinky diarrhea. I took the day off to stay home with her and she was in a good mood, so it was a nice day after all. She's a little cranky now though which is interfering with our big Valentines plans (which consist of take out and a DVD - woo hoo!)

6 months old - Ana's first post

Well, I turned 6 months old today so I thought I ought to start writing my own posts now. Here's how I spent my big day....

I decided it would be fun to annoy my parents by getting up at 2am and 6am - I've been doing this a lot lately. Mum and Dad can't figure out why, they think I may be teething, but really I just think it is funny! Once I got them up I took a nice loooooong nap until 11:30am. Well what did they expect, it is a Sunday after all. After my nap I ate some oatmeal then I practiced my sitting up

Then I kicked back and read a book....all by myself

After all that relaxing I decided I needed to get some exercise so I went for a stroll in my walker, then spent some quality time in my bouncer.

After this Mummy got her exercise by walking me AND my brother Briscoe in the park. It was pretty funny because she has trouble trying to hold Briscoe and push me at the same time. Usually Daddy comes and helps her but today he was cleaning the house. He's pretty good like that! Briscoe is a cool brother. He licks me when he can get away with it and it makes me laugh. I like to grab his fur and hold on for dear life. I don't think he minds. I wish he would do something about his dog breath though!

Once we got home Daddy and I sat and watched some TV then he fed me some squash. I got formula in a sippy cup too but I'm still not really sure how to work that thing.

Next I got a bath. Mummy put me in the little tub which I am way to big for now, so I made my point by splashing like crazy. Mummy and Auntie Mel used to have splashing competitions when they were kids who shared a bath. I'm pretty confident I could beat either of them.

After all this I was pretty tired, but I don't like to fall asleep cos I feel like I'm missing out, so instead I just get cranky for a while until I eventually pass out. I fell asleep at around 9 tonight, but since then I've been waking up off and on and crying. It's midnight now and I'm still at it. Aren't I funny?

Superbowl Sunday

Ana spent her first superbowl party hanging with Sara and Sofia - her twin buddies. They are 3 months old and teeny weeny (13lb and 9lb) and oh so cute. It's hard to remember Ana being that small. Sara has some breathing problems so the wires you can see are her breathing monitor - an alarm goes off if she stops breathing or if her heart rate shoots up or slows down. How scary! I definitely admire Adrianna - I couldn't imagine anything more exhausting that raising twins. Phew!

I realised that I missed last years superbowl party with morning sickness and watched the game in bed. I can't believe I was still having morning sickness a year ago and now I have a baby girl who is almost 6 months old. Crazy!

Tonight James and I went out on a date while Uncle Anthony babysat. We've finally found a local pub we love - an Irish Pub in Conyers. Too bad we didn't discover it before Ana arrived! Ahh well.

Babbling

Today, totally out of the blue, Ana started putting consonants and vowels together - ba ba ba, la la la etc. Once she got the hang of it she wouldn't stop all day. It was so cute. She even said DaDa much to James' delight. I could only capture her on video by sneaking up on her though since she stopped and stared at me every time I tried.

Hard work

Ana is hard work lately - she whines a lot and gets frustrated easily. She's not as happy as usual either, so I'm suspicious her ear infection and strep throat didn't fully die from the antibiotics she took so we are going back the the Dr on Monday. Hopefully it is something like that and not just that she is becoming a whiner! I also think she is developing separation anxiety. She follows me with her eyes and once I leave the room (or her field of vision) she cries. She also cries at daycare and won't let the ladies there feed her solid food. On the flip side she reaches her arms up to us now when she wants to be picked up - it's cute.

Ana had her first go with a sippy cup this week. She did really well and picked up the hang of it right away. She didn't drink much though - more gnawed on the end - but it was a good start.
