Speed crawler

If there was a crawling event in the Olympics Ana would be a shoo in for the gold medal!
The latest thing she does is to run away from me (well....crawl away from me) at high speed. She usually does this when she is heading for something she knows she is not allowed to get into, like the dog food. Here she is crawling away from me at the mall. I put her down because she was getting frustrated at being strapped into her stroller - and she took off! Notice how she speeds up when she hears me!

Walking

Ana and I walk everyday. Lately she is wily enough to get herself out of her restraints and stand up in the pram! When she is not doing that she does other funny things. One of her favourites is to bite the tray. I'm sure it must hurt her gums when I go over bumps - but it doesn't seem to deter her!


Some days we walk with Monica and Lucas. Lucas and Ana are really fascinated with each other - it is so cute!

My child is a thug!

Wow! I just went to collect Ana from her new daycare, and what do I see through the window? Ana beating up another baby! She had hold of this little girl Addison's hair with both hands and literally pulled her to the ground! I could not believe my eyes! Poor Addison was screaming so I went in (as the teacher was separating them) so I sat Ana down and told her to apologize (as if she could understand me?!). Ana then went for her again - in the face! The worst thing is I'm a terrible role model because I was cracking up! For some reason the whole scene was amusing to me - like what could 9 month olds possibly be fighting over? Of course I would have gone in and laid the smack down if I had seen another kid beating Ana up - a little hypocritical I guess!

I'm going to hazard a guess that James has never attacked anyone in his life - so these must be my genes! As soon as I found out I was expecting a girl I knew karma was coming for me!!

Happy Baby

We have lots of nicknames for Ana at home (Sweep, Banana, Boo, etc) but now she has a nickname at daycare. The ladies have named her Happy Baby. They all say "Hi Happy Baby!", "Bye Happy Baby, etc."

Ana just loves it when James rubs her face with his whiskers! Makes me wish I had whiskers......well......not really!!

9 months old and first mother's day

Ana turned 9 months on Friday. Wow! It feels like it has gone by fast, but it also feels like we have had her in our lives forever. It is hard to remember this time last year when she wasn't here. The house must have been so quiet!!! She has her Dr check up on Tuesday so I'll post some stats.

Today was my first Mother's Day. Ana went all out and got me some lovely jewelery (in peridot - her birthstone). Apparently she charmed all the ladies in the jewelery shop. They thought she was just adorable (as she is) and they all made a big fuss of her. They thought she was terribly sweet to bring her dad shopping with her too!



We went to Athens for the afternoon and took Briscoe to a dog park. After that we walked around Athens for a bit and went to a restaurant for dinner. It was such a great day! I really enjoyed my first Mother's Day!! Like Shelley said, I really feel like I earned this one, so I had no qualms about indulging myself :)

Milk mouth

Today we couldn't understand why Ana would not drink her bottle. She just kept spraying milk all over herself (note the wet hair). We thought she was just being silly so took it away from her. Eventually James realised we had put an old top on the bottle that had a huge hole in it (I cut it to add cereal to her bottle one time). Poor thing!

Sleep, child, SLEEP

Other than in the car (above) Ana refuses to sleep! She wakes up all night long and it is killing us! She usually takes 1 nap at daycare around lunchtime, then sleeps in the car on the way home for about 20 min. Other than that she is wide awake and ready to play! She won't be still anywhere either. She refuses to play in a playpen, or anywhere else where she might be constrained. She wants free run of the house (to cause maximum mischief I imagine) or all hell breaks loose! I think I only have myself to blame here, as my mum says I was very active as a baby too.

The other thing she does is take a supreme interest in anything she is not allowed to have. She will be playing on the floor, literally surrounded by interesting toys, and set her sights on something like a wire, then she zooms off after the wire and protests loudly if I take it away. I've actually tried pretending she cannot have one of her toys to see if it makes her want to play with it....but she is far too smart for that!

I have tried sitting with her and reading her a book - but she eats the book or rips the pages out. I have tried lying on the floor with her and playing calmly with a toy but she usually climbs all over me, or zips off in search of trouble. I have tried putting her in her highchair with toys, but she throws them at me and kicks her legs furiously! Don't even get me started on what she can do in her walker! She took the skin off my ankle with that thing the other day!

Gee, I can't wait until she becomes a toddler :)

Ana is going to have a little cousin in time for Christmas. How cute!

Ana just got the best present ever from Adam and Jen - a dancing Miami Dolphins dinosaur. She is fascinated by it. Initially she sat and stared at it, not sure what to do, but now she starts dancing whenever she hears it.
